EVER CHANGING SEASONS

I like all the seasons...don't really favor one over the other...but what I think is interesting, is the change, how one season becomes the next. I have always thought that the process is much more beautiful than the end result. How a small seed can become something great, but not without being able to grow. Right now I'm eagerly waiting all the little buds that are soon going to sprout. I think it is such a life confirming feeling, knowing that everything starts over every year. It's like having a never ending palette of inspiration.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. /Annika

WINTER COZINESS

Fabrics & textiles are some of my favorite sources of inspiration.
I have this thing for textures and I love to explore them and combine to make contrasts. Here's a bit of coziness for today.
Have a fabulous Wednesday! /Annika

WINTER WHITE DAYS

Hope you all had a great Christmas with family and friends.

It's really white and cold here in Denmark this year. I was out walking today and the landscape is insanely beautiful, crisp and white. It looks like an endless white dreamworld, or as you would say in Swedish; ett sagoland (fairyland). I always get quite dreamy and imaginative when feeling inspired like this from the nature, almost walking around waiting for little snowy creatures to come out and tag along on my walk :)

We want to thank you for all your beautiful comments...
it's so great to hear from all of you .

TACK SÅ MYCKET!

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

We want to wish you all a merry Christmas. We'll be back soon, but for the next couple of days, we'll be enjoying the holidays with our families & friends. Happy Holidays to you all! Christmas wishes from Sussi & Annika.

CHRISTMAS SPARKLE

I found this little piece of Christmas joy in my sister garden and it reminded me of why Christmas is such a beautiful time.
Mostly we recognize this season by decorating and adding sparkling colors and glitter to our homes, but there is something else going on as well. Something that might not be as obvious as all the decorating, but is by far the most important part. And that's the love we share, being with family and friends.
I think life is mostly going way to fast and those moments you get to love one another is often interrupted by life itself. But when the holidays come, we get the time to love and spoil each other crazy. We have the time to be more giving and loving towards one another. And we need it....this is how we get to sparkle too. /Annika

nostalgic moments

I have been in Stockholm the last couple of days visiting relatives and I always get quite nostalgic when I´m here. The houses and the things they store all bring back a lot of memories from my childhood. One of my favorite things is this box of old photos and postcards and I actually happen to find it this time. It´s probably around 15-20 years since I last had a look at it, but it still keeps its magic. I found this old wedding invite in the box dating back to 1896 and the font is absolutely beautiful.

The little toothpick holder and pot mat is a couple of flea-marked finds. Hope you enjoy! /Annika

leaves of green

I have always thought that the beauty of a material is in its structure rather than the color. Any color is pretty much attainable in any material, but what gives it origin and history is the structure. The structure will tell you about the process it has gone through to attain its appearance.

Combining different material can have a gorgeous effect when decorating your home. One color that is easily accepted in most materials is green, probably because green gives us a feeling of growth and life. It is also a color that never seems to go out of style, maybe just because we are always surrounded by it through nature and therefore see it as a very natural element in our lives. /Annika

In our store you'll find the green retro collection. The coffee and tea tin can be bought as a set or separately. This makes perfect for a Christmas present or as a hostess gift.

tea for two

As my sister mentioned in a previous post, I like to store dried flowers. It is fascinating to experience a flower take on a new life, when it is actually suppose to be buried in the compost. The color scale of the hydrangeas in these pictures is beyond comparison. Here paired with the latest of my sister’s flea marked finds, a set of teacups, they are the perfect match.
A nice little idea for setting the table when having people over for tea/coffee is using an old note sheet as table mat. These can also be found at flea markets. It adds to the charm when using vintage china.

Later I will show you how I also use my dried hydrangeas....which are one of my favorite flowers. You’ll soon learn that I have quite a few favorites. Maybe an occupational hazard of being a florist /Sussi

vintage type and turquoise colors

Recently I started collecting retro/vintage typewriters. Maybe it's not so much a collection but more a collection to be...since I only have two of them. Then again...since it's all about collecting you would actually have to start out with only one and work your way up. So I'll call mine a collection...i like the sound of it. The thing about being a collector is that you apply rules to the way you collect your objects. In this case I'm not interested in just any typewriter, nor does it have to be expensive. It simply has to speak to me. The first typewriter I found was turquoise and I payed 0,5 euro for it. It had my name typed all over it.

So today I urge you all to start collecting something that speaks to you. Whether it may be old books with great vintage type or as my sister does so well...she stores dried flowers for decoration and color inspirations. /Annika

feeling blue in the kitchen?

I think you all have a favorite color in your kitchen. I know I have... and its a color that makes me happy and inspires me to be creative. And I love to feel that way...being surrounded by things that inspire me. I like retro charm and things that have a worn look. Things like an old tin makes for a great utensil holder. It adds charm and personality to your kitchen and it is fun to come up with new ways of using old stuff. I think my next project will be about turning old finds into christmas decorations that'll match the kitchen.
